Life Events

St Peter and St Mary Magdalene offers a warm welcome to individuals and families preparing Baptism (Christening), Wedding, or Funeral services. Please check the details below, and feel free to contact the Vicar, Benjamin Williams, for further information.

Baptisms (Christenings)

A Baptism service celebrates the arrival of a new member of God’s family, and we extend a warm welcome to those who seek God’s blessing on their child and for themselves for the years ahead.

The Church can include a Baptism in its regular Sunday morning service at 10.30am.

St Peter and St Mary Magdalene is the first port of call for Baptism services for people who live in the Parish or who attend the Church. To find out which Parish you live in, please check out the A Church Near You website, tap in your postcode, and look for the Church flagged “This is the parish church.” Feel free then to complete this form to apply for a Baptism service. If you are interested or would like to know more, please contact the Vicar.

On the day, please note that there isn’t parking at the Church. There are several car parks in and around Barnstaple Town Centre, the nearest and largest being Cattle Market. The Church is a short walk from there. Please note that parking charges apply 365 days a year from 8am to 6pm.

Weddings

St Peter and St Mary Magdalene is a beautiful Church to celebrate a wedding. We can offer services ranging from small family gatherings to large events with a couple of hundred guests, and every sort of variation in between. We extend a warm welcome to those who want to celebrate their big day here in the presence of God.

Couples who live in the Parish of St Peter and St Mary Magdalene, or who have a family connection to the Parish, can choose to marry at the Church. You can check which Parish you live in here; tap in your postcode, and look for the Church flagged “This is the parish church.” There is information on having a Church wedding at the Church of England website.
